HPPD, the drug-induced disorder which can be brought on by psychedelic substances

…HPPD results in disturbed vision, where a sufferer may constantly see visual snow, haloes or trails.

Many also experience out-of-body sensations and extreme anxiety.

It’s triggered by the use of psychedelic drugs and has been described as the “trip that never ends”.

With the use of illegal drugs on the rise and the emergence of psychedelics in the treatment of mental health disorders, there are calls for greater awareness and more research into the condition.

Sheree said her son’s experience of HPPD was “a living hell”.

Joey developed HPPD after taking a psychedelic drug at the age of 17 when he was in his final year at school, affecting his vision.

“Where school was concerned words were starting the slide off the page so he couldn’t study, he couldn’t read, and reading was something that he was very good at,” she said.

There is a new disability insurance scheme in Australia called the NDIS. It has been criticized for being too expensive, bureaucratic and inefficient.

Which takes us to:

Almost one in three jobs [in Australia] created last year was for the NDIS

…The explosive growth in the $42 billion NDIS has helped propel federal government spending to near-record levels as a share of GDP, while the Australian government actuary warns the program is on track to cost $125 billion a year by 2034.

Euthanasia is coming – like it or not

If the law does not lead, it will follow — at root the reason is Darwinian

At root the reason is Darwinian. Tribes that handicap themselves will not prosper. As medical science advances, the cost of prolonging human life way past human usefulness will impose an ever heavier burden on the community for an ever longer proportion of its members’ lives. Already we are keeping people alive in a near-vegetative state. The human and financial resources necessary will mean that an ever greater weight will fall upon the shoulders of the diminishing proportion of the population still productive. Like socialist economics, this will place a handicap on our tribe. Already the cost of medical provision in Britain eats into our economic competitiveness against less socially generous nations.

Now Canada is euthanising autistic people

A father has discovered he is powerless to stop his perfectly healthy daughter being killed.

…WV argues that the doctors were wrong to conclude that his daughter met the MAID criteria. He told the courts that she was diagnosed in 2016 with autism-spectrum disorder. She also has a long history of seeking medical diagnoses for physical ailments. But, to her father’s knowledge, no diagnosis was ever made. He said it is unclear to him whether she suffers from any physical condition at all. He speculated that she may suffer from psychological conditions that ‘caus[e] her to believe that she suffers from physiological symptoms’.

Failed asylum seeker whose deportation was blocked by do-gooder cabin crew rapes 15-year-old girl

A failed asylum seeker whose deportation from the UK was blocked when do-gooder cabin crew refused to fly him home has pleaded guilty to raping a 15-year-old girl.

Anicet Mayela, 40, who once campaigned outside a detention centre holding a sign stating, ‘migrants are not criminals’, could face life in jail after admitting the attack on the teenager.

He became a poster boy for anti-deportation campaigners after using human rights law to fight his return to the Republic of the Congo.

But Oxford Crown Court heard on Friday that there was a high level of “dangerousness” during the sex attack by the former economics student.

From Shipwreck to Royalty: Carl Emil Pettersson’s Journey to Becoming a King

The 29-year-old sailor found himself in an unlikely predicament: he was laid before a group of cannibalistic islanders from Papua New Guinea, wondering how he could avoid becoming their next meal.

Tabar Island’s inhabitants weren’t averse to eating other humans to survive. When the islanders discovered a man making his way out of a shipwreck – a bruised and battered Carl Pettersson – they were immediately wary of the stranger on their land.

The Tabar people approached the sailor with curiosity, and Carl knew he either had to get them on his side or face being eaten. What happened next would change Carl Pettersson’s life forever.

Vietnam tycoon Truong My Lan sentenced to death in $12.5bn fraud case

The 67-year-old illegally controlled the Saigon Joint Stock Commercial Bank (SCB) between 2012 and 2022 to siphon the funds through thousands of ghost companies and by paying bribes to government officials.

The value of her alleged asset appropriation was equivalent to about 3 percent of Vietnam’s gross domestic product (GDP) in 2022, and prosecutors said they seized more than 1,000 properties belonging to her.

Lan had denied charges levelled against her, instead blaming subordinates. In her final remarks to the court last week, she said she had thoughts of suicide.

“In my desperation, I thought of death,” she said, according to state media. “I am so angry that I was stupid enough to get involved in this very fierce business environment – the banking sector – which I have little knowledge of.”

Man arrested after pressing naked butt against water faucet in Tokyo park

According to police, the man, who claims to be self-employed, pressed his anus against a water faucet used for drinking in the park at around 2:20 a.m. on April 1, Sankei Shimbun reported.

Around 3 a.m. on the same day, police officers spotted the man riding a bicycle, with his lower body naked, on the street near the park, and arrested him for public indecency.

Later, police found a photo of the man pressing his anus against the water faucet on his smartphone. The park banned use of faucets for the day until they could be cleaned.

Police quoted the man as saying, “I did it because I was sexually aroused. I used binoculars to make sure there were no people around beforehand.”

I’ve Been at NPR for 25 Years. Here’s How We Lost America’s Trust.

Uri Berliner, a veteran at the public radio institution, says the network lost its way when it started telling listeners how to think.

By Uri Berliner

April 9, 2024

Concerned by the lack of viewpoint diversity, I looked at voter registration for our newsroom. In D.C., where NPR is headquartered and many of us live, I found 87 registered Democrats working in editorial positions and zero Republicans. None.

So on May 3, 2021, I presented the findings at an all-hands editorial staff meeting. When I suggested we had a diversity problem with a score of 87 Democrats and zero Republicans, the response wasn’t hostile. It was worse. It was met with profound indifference. I got a few messages from surprised, curious colleagues. But the messages were of the “oh wow, that’s weird” variety, as if the lopsided tally was a random anomaly rather than a critical failure of our diversity North Star.

Chaser:

NPR suspends veteran editor as it grapples with his public criticism

In presenting Berliner’s suspension Thursday afternoon, the organization told the editor he had failed to secure its approval for outside work for other news outlets, as is required of NPR journalists. It called the letter a “final warning,” saying Berliner would be fired if he violated NPR’s policy again. Berliner is a dues-paying member of NPR’s newsroom union but says he is not appealing the punishment.

Surprisingly neutral article there published on the NPR site.

That’s it.

There’ll be a post on Wednesday about why young men should roam, and why they don’t.

Oh and music has just gone the way of writing:

The thing about HPPD was interesting. The conventional wisdom I’ve always heard is that psychedelics are fine because they’re not addictive.

NPR is insufferable. The only people I know who listen to it are white liberals who want to feel smarter than they actually are. Unfortunately there are a lot of those where I live. I saw that clip with the NPR CEO on a live stream last night. Lots of word salad about how there are multiple truths and other nonsensical things like that.

I’ve noticed an uptick in publicly mocking NPR lately. Hopefully the trend continues.

“Already we are keeping people alive in a near-vegetative state. The human and financial resources necessary will mean that an ever greater weight will fall upon the shoulders of the diminishing proportion of the population still productive”

I’d argue we’re keeping people alive in a fairly ambulatory state. Through the charity work I do, I’ve run into a number of geezers that are in their 80s, sunset of life, but grasp and claw any specialist they can to fix what ails them. I know one that’s 85, and still searching for a fix for his ailing ticker, even though one of the top docs said “Look, you’re heart’s worn out”

They’ve spent (Actually we did) thousands just this year. As much as I’m against euthanasia or assisted suicide, there is a time to go with dignity.

Far as NPR goes, it’s far past time to remove them from the public teat. They can scrabble for cash like anyone else. They get more from the government than any profitable network makes.

    The excuse of the century:

“I did it because I was sexually aroused. I used binoculars to make sure there were no people around beforehand.”

BWAAAHAAHAA! missed the dude with the badge, apparently. Japanese guys can do some weird shit.

[…With the use of illegal drugs on the rise and the emergence of psychedelics in the treatment of mental health disorders, there are calls for greater awareness and more research into the condition….]

As far as I’m concerned, the research by the Psychologists, Psychiatrists and the CIA for decades, plus all the musicians and other artists since the late 60’s should be sufficient to close this chapter.

Call them by their name: Democrats!
